Double your crafting pleasure! This week we have two designs for you, one to crochet and one to knit. Pictured above is Gigi, a very easy crochet scarf designed by Christina Peters. Gigi uses only two basic stitches, chain stitch and double crochet. It's Christina's selection of a beautiful color-shifting yarn that makes this scarf something very special. You'll love how Schoppel-Wolle Gradient slowly transitions from one color to the next, and how smoothly the merino wool glides over your hook. I'm sure there's somebody on your holiday gift list who would love to cozy up in colorful Gigi.
Our second pattern this week is inspired by the gansey sweaters worn by seamen in the Channel Islands. Designed by Trisha Mitberg, Jerbourg features alternating blocks of traditional gansey stitch patterns and is worked up in 2 skeins of buttery soft Baby Alpaca Grande from Plymouth Yarns.
Even though I'm modeling Jerbourg in our pics, this scarf would be great on your favorite guy. (I would have made my husband pose, but he is refusing to shave for "Movember" and currently looks a little grizzled and scary.)
You'll find patterns for both Gigi and Jerbourg at the Bee or you can dowload them on ravelry. And we'll have both Gradient and Baby Alpaca Grande on sale for 15% off through November 26th. These yarns aren't available in our online store yet, but we are happy to take phone orders at 888-KNIT-BEE.
Don't forget: We'll be closed on Thursday, November 27th so we can eat turkey and pumpkin pie with our families. Then the day after Thanksgiving, we'll celebrate with 10% off all yarn, accessories and notions at our brick & mortar shop, plus extra discounts on needle sets, swifts and winders. Come in this week and fill out a "wish list" then tell your special Santa where to find us!
