If you're anything like us, you can’t imagine a day without knitting. It's a form of creative expression, a connection between the tactile and the intangible. It's how we show loved ones we care, with a gift made by hand just for them. It helps us find calm in a busy world. Knitting is how we (ful)fill time.

Knitting Bee was founded in 2004 by Jami Brynildson, who envisioned a creative space where knitting, crochet, and yarn enthusiasts could revel in their mutual hobby-turned-passion. Just like you, our team is slightly addicted to color and the comforting squish of a ball of wool. We're picky (but never pretentious) about our materials and tools. We're always here to help you find the perfect yarn for your project, and we'll even sit with you and help fix a messed-up set of stitches. In fact, nothing makes us happier than sharing in ALL the knitting-related things!

Our product offering revolves around all things yarn—yarn made from wool, alpaca, cashmere, linen, silk, acrylic, mohair, and cotton. Beautiful basics and one-of-a-kind hand-dyed skeins. Some of our yarns are spun and dyed by artisans halfway across the world while others are produced sheep to skein closer to home. Everything you could ever need, from an array of needles and crochet hooks to inspiring project ideas and helpful tools, is waiting for you to discover at the Bee.

Every summer for 12+ years, our customers knit and crochet sweater costumes for teddy bears. These lovingly handmade pieces are delivered to Oregon’s Camp Erin, a children’s grief support camp for kids who have lost someone close to them. We also make and collect purple caps to help our local hospital bring attention to the Period of Purple Crying in newborns.
