Sundae Socks with Shannon Squire

Learn toe-up sock knitting from one of the obsessed, sock designer extraordinaire Shannon Squire! Throughout this three-week course you’ll learn how to work Judy's Magic Cast on, how to work a rounded toe, where and how to increase for the heel, how to turn a heel, and how to work a stretchy bind-off. Students can use two circulars or one long circular
needle (magic loop). Students should be comfortable knitting on small needles, knitting in the round, and with the concept of short rows. Cost: $55.00 for three sessions, materials additional.

Toe-Up in a Day with Shannon Squire

Learn the techniques of knitting toe-up socks in a one day workshop! Using DK-weight yarn and Shannon's Winter Weekend Socks pattern as a jumping-off point, Shannon will guide you through all the major components of toe-up sock knitting while you work a sample piece (basically a sock without the whole foot). Time permitting, you’ll start your first pair of toe-up socks using the skills you learned earlier in the day (Judy's Magic Cast on, how to increase for the gusset and turn the heel, Jeny’s Surprisingly Stretchy Bind-off, and more). Students can use two circulars or one long circular needle (magic loop) and should be comfortable knitting in the round. Cost: $55.00, materials additional.

Crochet Basics: Easy Peasy Potholders

If you are new to crochet you will learn how to work the foundation chain and single crochet as you work this easy potholder. You will crochet around and around, yet end up with a square, double thick potholder! If you’re already familiar with crochet Darla will show you how to create potholders from leftover cotton yarn that look planned instead of like you just ran out of yarn.

Tunisian crochet is often called the link between knitting and crochet as it contains elements of both. You don’t have to know either to create Darla’s lovely Spa Cloth. We’ll start at the beginning with the foundation row, then learn Tunisian Simple Stitch, Tunisian Knit Stitch and Tunisian Purl Stitch. It begins with one lacy triangular motif. Where it goes from there is up to you! You'll learn how to crochet and join successive motifs as you go, giving you the freedom to make a scarf or wrap the size and shape you desire. Darla is a patient and knowledgeable instructor, happy to share the tips and tricks she’s learned while working for many publishers, yarn companies and teaching at national conferences.
