Part-Time Shop Sales Associate

We’re looking for a customer service all-star with a passion for yarn and knitting to join our team.

Responsibilities:

Greet each customer as they enter the shop
Determine each customer's needs and provide appropriate customer service and solutions. Could include suggesting patterns, selecting appropriate materials, troubleshooting project/pattern errors, processing product returns or exchanges, or registering for classes
Build and maintain positive relationships with customers
Contribute to a safe and welcoming shop environment for individuals of all abilities/experiences
Apply the above to online and telephone customers
Accurately ring up sales, open and close out register/POS terminal
Stay knowledgeable about shop products, classes, and samples
Maintain shop merchandising, cleanliness and organization
Receive, check in and put out incoming stock
Assist with processing and shipping online orders
Assist with inventory and other shop projects as requested

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

Passion for yarn and knitting
Ability to maintain a warm, friendly and professional attitude at all times
Ability to work a minimum of 3 days a week, including Saturday or Sunday
Proficient with basic knitting stitches, fiber types and yarn weights
Ability to measure gauge, correct knitting mistakes, and read patterns
Ability to multi-task and self-motivate
Experience using a desktop computer
Ability to perform shop maintenance including vacuuming, dusting, trash
Ability to stand for prolonged periods and lift up to 35 lbs

Desired Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

Proficient with basic crochet stitches
Experience posting on social media platforms
Previous customer service or retail experience
